We’re always looking for curious, kind, and driven people that want to make a difference. We’re an interdisciplinary group and we especially value strong technical/analytical skills paired with interest in psychology, political science, sociology, or science & technology studies.

We post roles when funding and project needs allow. If you fill out the form above, we’ll reach out when an opening matches your interests.

Students (BA/MA)

• Teaching Assistant (TA): Support course delivery (exercises, tutorials, grading). We typically recruit TAs directly from past course cohorts.
• Research Assistant (RA): Work with a senior researcher on a specific project and own a defined workstream. Openings depend on project needs.
• Pre-Doctoral Researcher (PreDoc): Develop an independent research project toward a first publication, with mentorship and resources from the lab.
• AI Education Facilitator (KImS; German proficiency required): Support the delivery of AI education programs at schools, including course preparation, teaching, school coordination, evaluation, and outreach/communication. Open to students from all disciplines.

TAs and RAs are typically employed as SHK/HiWis for the hours they work per month. PreDoctoral researcher can collaborate with our lab more openly, and may receive a stipend if their projects are sufficiently mature. Note that to be eligible for student contracts, you’ll usually need to be enrolled at a German university.

PhD / PostDocs / visiting researchers

• Ph.D. / Doctoral Researcher: You will have a couple of years to figure out how to do research, how academia works, and build your own research profile. Yay!
• PostDoctoral Researcher: Lead one or more projects, co-supervise students, and contribute to papers and grants. Positions depend on project funding.
• Visitors: Join us for short- or longer-term stays to collaborate, write, and exchange ideas.
• Fellows: Pursue a degree while bringing their own funding (e.g., an external fellowship).

Academic funding & hiring in Germany

Ph.D’s and PosDocs are funded according to TVL E13 with a position of 75% or more. Hiring at German universities is decentralized and opportunity-driven: openings usually appear when new project funding starts or when an existing position becomes available. That means you need to be in touch with people at the right time, which can be difficult. To facilitate the process, we have set up a form where you can indicate your interest now and we will reach out to you once we have a relevant opening.

Visitors & fellows we don’t need to match to an opening, just reach out to us directly!
